Braylon Jamel Edwards (born February 21, 1983 in Detroit, Michigan) is a current American football player who was selected third overall in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. His father, Stanley, played football at the University of Michigan (1977-81) and in the NFL with the Houston Oilers (1982-86) and Detroit Lions (1987).

Edwards was recruited out of Bishop Gallagher High School in Detroit and followed his father's footsteps to Michigan. Edward's records at Michigan include season records for receptions (97) and yards (1,330), and career records for receptions (252), yards (3,541) and touchdowns (39); the touchdown mark is also a Big Ten Conference career record. Edwards also set the UM record for the most games of 100 or more receiving yards with 16. Edwards is the only wide receiver in Big Ten history (and third in NCAA Division I-A) to gain 1,000 or more receiving yards in three consecutive years. In 2004, Edwards won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top college football wide receiver. At Michigan, Edwards wore No. 80 during his freshman and sophomore years, but "earned" the No. 1 jersey during his junior and senior years. As a Cleveland Brown, Edwards joined the current trend among NFL receivers by wearing a number in the teens, 17.

In 2005, Edwards began his rookie season as Cleveland's third wide receiver. However, by midseason, he had moved into the starting lineup. He amassed 512 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns before suffering a season ending knee injury. Edwards had surgery in the offseason, and may recover in time for the beginning of the 2006 season.
