Brent Jones (born 12 February 1963) is a former American Football tight end who played his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers (1987-1997). Jones was selected to the Pro Bowl 4 times, from 1992 to 1995. Shortly after his playing career ended, Jones became an analyst for The NFL Today. Jones worked for The NFL on CBS from 1998-2004. Jones decided to leave CBS Sports prior to the 2005 season in order to focus on his business out in California.

Playing Style

Jones had tremendous speed for a tight end, allowing him to make big plays down the field. He served as a security blanket for quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young. With soft hands and a tremendous knack for coming down with the touch reception, he was one of the most popular players on the team. While not the strongest in-line blocker, he was one of the game's premier downfield blockers, as he was always very good when he got a full head of steam.

High school career

Jones attended Leland High School in San Jose, California, where he played baseball and football. In baseball, he was a first team All-League selection

College career

Jones attended Santa Clara University, where he was a three time All-Western Football Conference selection, and as a senior, was also selected as an All-American by the Associated Press, Football News, and Kodak.
