| Bruce Edwin Benedict (born August 18 1955 Birmingham, AL - ) was a catcher with a 12 year career from 1978 to 1989. He played his entire career with the Atlanta Braves of the National League. Whenever Benedict came to bat at home in Fulton County Stadium, the crowd would chant "BRUUUUUUUUUUCE" causing many opposing teams' fans to believe that he was being booed. He was elected to the National League All-Star team twice (1981 and 1983).
