| Bruce Matthew Tanner (born December 9, 1961 in New Castle, Pennsylvania) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher and current coach. Tanner played one season for the Chicago White Sox in 1985, appearing in 10 games and starting 4 of them. He was credited with one win, two losses, and a 5.35 ERA. He also pitched for several years in the minor leagues. After retiring as a player, he spent the 1990s as a minor league pitching coach for several teams before becoming the Bullpen Coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates before the 2001 season. Bruce Tanner is the son of Chuck Tanner, who played parts of 8 seasons in the majors (1955-1962) and managed for 19 years (1970-1988).
