"Little Bud" Moore was born in Charleston, South Carolina on December 7th, 1941.

His first ever race in Nascar was in the Grand National Series on August 2nd, 1964. He started the race in a 1963 Ford, but dropped within three laps due to overheating problems.

His best season of his racing career was in 1965, where he managed to grab three top fives, seven top tens, and even a pole, driving for Louis Weatherbee's#45 Plymouth, in only fourteen races that he competed in. His best season in the point standings, however, was in 1968, where he finished 29th in the points standings.

His final race in his relatively short career, was five years after his second to last race, at the 1973 Southern 500 at the Darlington Raceway. He only completed 174 of the 367 laps, retiring from the race due to engine problems in his 1971 Mercury.

Bud Moore made his name in Nascar, not by his racing career, but has a car owner. He, quote, "loved to make 'em run fast!" In 1957, Buck Baker, a successful Nascar driver in his time, won the NASCAR Grand National championship with Bud Moore as a crew chief. A little later, in 1961, got much of his success as a car owner for Joe Weatherly, who won eight of his twenty-four races driving Moore's Pontiacs. Joe Weatherly, also ended up winning the 1962 and 1963 Nascar Grand National championships, again driving for Moore.

In 1964, Billy Wade managed to grab five poles and win four Grand National races in a row driving for Bud. Then four years later in 1968, Tiny Lund won the Grand American division championship driving for him.

Moore was already one of the best car owners in motorsports during that time, but he wasn't done yet. In 1970, Parnelli Jones won the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Amchampionship driving for him. Buddy Baker won three straight Talladega races in 1975 and 1976, and in 1978, Bobby Allison won the Daytona 500 driving for Moore.

Over the course of the years thus far, many other famous motor racing celebrities have driven for him:

Fireball Roberts, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Isaac, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, Cale Yarborough, Donnie Allison, Geoff Bodine, Ricky Rudd, Brett Bodine, and Morgan Shepherd.

During his car owner career of 37 years, he has achieved 63 wins, 43 poles and two Nascar Grand National Division championships.
