| Carol Jarecki is known as "The Girl Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo". However, she did not really break the bank at Monte Carlo. She won more than one million dollars in Monte Carlo, but that was not enough to break the bank. She only broke the bank in a smaller casino in San Remo on the Italian Riviera. In the late-1960s, Carol, along with her husband, Richard Jarecki, developed a system to beat the roulette wheel based upon inperfections in the wheel. They won more than one million dollars in 1971. After consisently winning money and after the pit bosses finally realized that the Jareckis had a system that really worked, they were barred from admission to the casinos. Carol then started selling her system to other gamblers. However, these other gamblers did not always follow the system correctly and often lost money, which made the gamblers angry. Eventually, Carol Jarecki literally flew out of town on the private airplane which she had purchased with her gambling winnings and stopped selling her system. Carol Jarecki gave birth to a son who developed into a child prodigy of chess and became a chess master and one of the top rated players in the US. A licensed pilot, Carol started flying her son, John Jarecki, around to major chess events in the United States. Carol became a "ChessMom". Soon, she started working at those tournaments and eventually became a certified tournament director. Before long, she was head TD at almost every major chess event in the United States, even though her son no longer played chess. She is now America's leading chess tournament director. She is almost always the Head TD at the U.S. Chess Championship and at the SuperNational Scholastic Championships, the National Elementary Championship and so on. She is also an International Arbiter recognized by FIDE, the World Chess Federation. She is a tournament director, often the Chief TD, at almost all of the big events, including the World Open, the National Open and so on. She regularly works the World Chess Olympiad, sometimes as the Head Arbiter. She is also usually the Delegate from the British Virgin Islands to the FIDE Congress of the World Chess Federation. She has been the Chief Arbiter at several of the World Chess Championship matches. She knows the rules of tournament chess very well, especially since since she wrote most of them. Carol Jarecki has lots of enemies, too, mostly rival TDs who are angry that she has taken all their directing jobs, especially since she is not really a player. She is just an official. However, as long as most of the top players regularly vote that she be in charge, she is guaranteed to be able to keep working at top level chess events. Carol Jarecki now lives in Las Vegas. Books
