| Cecil Howard Travis (born August 8, 1913) was an American shortstop in Major League Baseball from 1933 to 1947. He spent his entire career with the Washington Senators. He was born in Riverdale, Georgia. One of the best young shortstops of the late 1930s and early 1940s, Travis enjoyed his best season in 1941 with a .359 batting average and 101 runs batted in. While serving in the military during World War II, he suffered a bad case of frostbite during the Battle of the Bulge. Although only 31 years old when he returned to baseball, he was not the same player as the one before the war and retired two years later.
