Athletes - Charlie Bennett

Charles Wesley Bennett (born November 21, 1854 in New Castle, PA, died February 24, 1927 in Detroit, MI) was a catcher in Major League Baseball for the Milwaukee Grays (1878), Worcester Ruby Legs (1880), Detroit Wolverines (1881-1888), and the Boston Beaneaters (now the Atlanta Braves) (1889-1893).

Bennett's career in baseball ended when he lost both his legs in a train accident. The Detroit Tigers named their new ballpark Bennett Park in honor of him.
