Athletes - Charlie Cunningham

Charlie Cunningham was an early pioneer in the development of modern mountain bicycles. He first began building bikes in 1977 using oversize aluminum tubing when most frames were made of tough and heavy steel alloys. His bikes were very lightweight for the day and were often described as an extension of a rider's body and mind. He invented my innovator and beloved mountain bike items especially the beloved tire design, the Ground Control. He was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 1988. He is married to another MTB Hall of Fame member, Jacquie Phelan
.

Quote: “The mountain bike experience in its purest sense happens when the bike is working in perfect harmony with the rider and the terrain. This experience in its many forms is what so many people in today's World need so much and what I hope to contribute in some small way."
