| Charlie Frye (born August 28, 1981 in Willard, Ohio) is an American football quarterback who plays for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. He broke 17 Willard High School Football records before he graduated high school in 2000, while being coached under Chris Hawkins. He went on to break 54 University of Akron Football records by the end of 2005. Charlie won the 2005 Senior Bowl MVP in Mobile, Alabama. Frye was selected in the third round (67th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Browns. His first NFL start came against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 13. Charlie passed for 226 yards, with two touchdowns, both to fellow rookie Braylon Edwards and an impressive 136.7 passer rating. Frye started the final five games of the 2005 season for the Browns, compiling a record of 2-3 as a starter.
