Cheryl Lynne Van Kuren (born in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania) is a former field hockey player from the United States, who finished in eight position with Team USA in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

An Olympian and All-American, Van Kuren was an outstanding hockey player at Old Dominion University from 1982-1985. She's Old Dominion's second all-time career assist leader with 61. Van Kuren helped anchor the Lady Monarchs as they ammassed an 82-9 record with three NCAA championships and one runners-up finish.

Van Kuren was a two-time All-American selection and was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1985. In addition to the 61 assists, she scored 18 goals and compiled 79 career points which ranks her fifth on Old Dominion's all-time point list.

During the 1984 season she was a member of the 23-0 team which outscored their opponents 127-10, and outshot them 625-135. Cheryl assisted on 37 goals and set an Old Dominion and NCAA Tournament record with six assists in one game against Virginia on November 11, 1984.

As a senior, Van Kuren was a first team All-American selection and NCAA All-Tournament pick. As the Lady Monarchs co-captain she was named Female Athlete-of-the-Year by the ODU Alumni Association in 1985. She also lettered in lacrosse. Van Kuren competed on the national and international level in field hockey as an undergraduate. She participated in the Olympic Sports Festivals, on the US National Women's Team and in 1988 she competed in the Olympic Games in South Korea.

The Coopersburg, Pa., native graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports medicine and earned a Master's degree in exercise science and wellness. She also served as an intern at the Arizona Heart Institute.
