| Chris Brown (born John Christopher Brown on August 15, 1961 in Jackson, Mississippi) was a Major League Baseball player during the 1980s. Brown was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 2nd round (44th overall) during the 1979 amateur draft. He played for them in the majors between 1984 – 1987. Between 1987 – 1988 he switched to the San Diego Padres, finishing his career in 1989 with the Detroit Tigers. Brown is a notable graduate of Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, California, where he played high school baseball with Darryl Strawberry.
