Charles William Tanner (born July 4, 1929 in New Castle, Pennsylvania) is a former left fielder and manager in Major League Baseball. He played for eight seasons (1955 - 1962) for five different teams.

He is the father of former major league player and coach Bruce Tanner
.

Managerial career

He is best known as a manager, having managed four teams from 1970 to 1988, including winning the 1979 World Series
