Craig Hansen (born November 15, 1983 in Glen Cove, New York) is a relief pitcher who plays for the Boston Red Sox organization. He bats and throws right-handed.

Hansen, the closer out of St. John's University, was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 2005 draft.

The Red Sox signed Hansen to a four-year deal valued at $4 million, adding him to the 40-man roster. The 6-foot-6, 22-year-old, who reportedly can reach 97 to 98 miles per hour (43 to 44 m/s) and mix in a hard slider, posted a 3-2 record with 14 saves last year for the Saint John’s Red Storm, registering 85 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. Named a first-team All-American by Baseball America, Hansen was flawless in senior season, with an 8-0 record and 0.00 ERA.

Hansen produced speculation that he might be able to help the Boston bullpen during the 2005 season and joined the Sox as a September call-up. He made his major league debut on September 19, 2005, following a conditioning stint in Fort Myers and the end of Double-A Portland's season. He struck out the first man he faced, pitching a perfect inning with two K's. He then went on to pitch fairly well for the remainder of the season. As his arm was fatiguing over the course of the long year for him, he was used sparingly, but with his big-league presence after only being out of college for a few months, he can work hard to guarantee himself a spot on the 2006 Red Sox pitching staff.
