| David Christopher DeJesus (b. December 20, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York) is a center fielder currently with the Kansas City Royals. He replaced Carlos Beltrán after Beltrán was traded to the Houston Astros in 2004 and has a career batting average of .286 entering 2005. He attended Rutgers University. DeJesus was raised in Manalapan, New Jersey. In the first part of the 2005 season, his stats were the same or better then Carlos Beltran, until an injury caused him to miss the rest of the season. He resently signed a 5 year contract with the Kansas City Royals.
