David Schultz is a retired professional wrestler who billed himself as Dr. D. He gained his biggest notoriety after a 1984 incident involving 20/20 reporter John Stossel.

At the time Schultz was working as an employee of the World Wrestling Federation. His encounter with Stossel happened while Stossel was backstage doing a story about professional wrestling's secrets. During an interview Stossel asked Schultz if pro wrestling was fake and Schultz's response was to slap Stossel.

Stossel filed a law suit against the World Wrestling Federation over this, which he won. The amount awarded to Stossel has never been announced, but rumours have placed it anywhere between $280,000 and $425,000.

Although he has consistently mantained that World Wrestling Federation officials told him to hit Stossel, Schultz was fired over his actions. He wrestled for a time after this billing himself as 'Dr D' David Schultz in an effort to build back his career using the incident as a gimmick. This was short lived and David Schultz retired from professional wrestling.

David Schultz briefly reappeared in the spotlight in the early 1990's. Vince McMahon was accused of illegally distributing anabolic steroids and David Schultz was a witness called to testify at the trial.
