Debbie Black (born July 29, 1966) is a retired basketball player from the Women's National Basketball Association. Her primary position was the point guard.

College years

Black graduated from St. Joseph's University in 1988.

WNBL career

Black played eight seasons with the Tasmanian Islanders (1989-96) of the Women's National Basketball League in Australia. She helped the team win national titles in 1991 and 1995.

ABL career

Black played for the Colorado Xplosion in the American Basketball League. She was an All-Star, where she became one of the only womens professional players ever to record a quadruple double (10 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists, 10 steals), against the Atlanta Glory on Dec. 8, 1996.

WNBA career

Black was drafted 15th overall by the Utah Starzz in 2nd round of the 1999 WNBA Draft. She would then play for the Miami Sol from 2000 to 2002. While playing for the Sol, she would earn the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Award at the age of 35. Afterwards she was picked up by the Connecticut Sun during the dispersal draft.

From the beginning to the end of Black's career, her energy, intensity and toughness has never been questioned. Her relentless defense earned her the nickname "The Pest".

On April 13, 2005, Black announced her retirement from the WNBA. Lindsay Whalen
would become the next starting Sun point guard in succession.
