Deron Williams (born June 26, 1984 in Parkersburg, West Virginia) is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association and former collegiate player for the University of Illinois. Williams is now a 6' 3", 210 lb (1.90 m, 106 kg) point guard for the Utah Jazz.

Williams attended high school in The Colony, Texas. Williams came to Illinois for the 2002-2003 season. In 2005, as a Junior starting point guard, Williams led the Fighting Illini to the NCAA championship game, where the Fighting Illini lost to the University of North Carolina. Williams declared for the NBA Draft after the 2005 season, forgoing his final year of collegiate eligibility.

Williams led the Big Ten in assists in the three seasons he played at Illinois. Williams received many awards after the 2004-2005 season. These honors include being named a consensus Second Team All American, as well as being named First Team All-Big Ten, Big Ten All-Tournament Team, and All-Final Four team. Williams was also a finalist for the Wooden Award and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Chicago Regional in the NCAA Tournament. Williams was named First-Team All-Big Ten as a sophomore in 2004 and as a junior in 2005, the year in which Williams, called by coach Bruce Weber
"the MVP of the team", led the Illini to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship game before losing a close game to North Carolina.

Following the season, Williams declared for the 2005 NBA Draft, in which the Utah Jazz selected Williams with the third overall selection. Williams was the first of three point guards selected in succession following #1 selection Andrew Bogut (of the Utah Utes to the Milwaukee Bucks) and #2 pick Marvin Williams
(of the North Carolina Tar Heels to the Atlanta Hawks). The following two were Chris Paul
(of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to the New Orleans Hornets) and Raymond Felton
(of the North Carolina Tar Heels by the Charlotte Bobcats). Williams has moved from a back-up guard, to become the starting point guard for Utah, in their run to make the playoffs.
