Athletes - Don Wert


Don Wert (born July 29, 1938, in Strasburg, Pennsylvania) was a Major League Baseball player for the Detroit Tigers from 1963 to 1970. Wert also briefly played for the Washington Senators in 1971.

Wert generally played in the infield, mostly second base and third base. Wert's best season with the Detroit Tigers came in 1966, where he hit .266 in 150 games with 137 hits and 40 RBI. He also played on the 1968 Tigers team that won the World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals.
