Doug Basham (born May 12, 1977) is a professional wrestler currently performing for World Wrestling Entertainment on its SmackDown! brand and before that, its developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling. Doug Basham is also the nephew of OVW founder Danny Davis.

Career

Ohio Valley Wrestling

Doug was a top babyface (good guy) in the company winning the OVW Heavyweight Title on a number of occasions.

Doug turned heel (bad guy) and was involved in a storyline that saw him grow jealous of his uncles fondness for another OVW Superstar Nick Dinsmore
.

Doug disappeared in late 2000 and came back as a masked man known as The Machine who attacked Nick Dinsmore. Dinsmore would go on to defeat The Machine in a Retirement vs. Mask match and unmask Basham.

Doug "The Machine" Basham went on to create the Revolution stable and feuded with OVW's top stars. Basham signed a WWE development contract in April 2002 and was soon signed to WWE SmackDown! in May 2003.

World Wrestling Entertainment

Doug Basham entered SmackDown! as one-half of the tag team, The Basham Brothers with his tag partner Danny Basham
. The Basham Brothers debuted as a team on May 29th 2003, they defeated the team of Rikishi and Brian Kendrick
. The Basham Brothers were later joined by Shaniqua
As well as being portrayed with a bondage-based S&M gimmick and won their first WWE Tag Team Championship from Los Guerreros
on the October 23, 2003 edition of Smackdown!. The team would go on to lose the titles in Feburary 2004 at WWE No Way Out 2004 to Rikishi and Scotty Too Hotty
. The Basham Brothers and Shaniqua faced Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi in a handicapped match and lost when Shaniqua was pinned by Rikishi. The Basham Brothers would go on to lose their manger Shaniqua when she was sent to OVW for training not long after No Way Out.

The Basham Brothers would later join John Bradshaw Layfield's cabinet stable on the 25 November 2004. Known as JBL's Co-Secretaries of Defense. Their role was often to sacrifice themselves to prevent Layfield from getting harmed after he had provoked an opponent. The Bashams would once again win Tag Team gold defeating four other teams. The Basham Brothers lost the titles to Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero
on the February 20 2005 edition of WWE No Way Out. The Basham Brothers quit Layfield's Cabinet on the June 16, 2005 episode of SmackDown!, claiming that they were tired of being "JBL's crash test dummies" and not getting enough respect.

Danny was traded to RAW on July 1 2005 during the 2005 Draft Lottery leaving Doug on Smackdown!.

Doug returned to TV on August 27th edition of Velocity as "The Bash Man" Doug Basham. Doug came out to the ring wearing sunglasses, a shinny leather vest, and shinny wool pants. Doug continued to work squash matches under this gimmick for the next couple of weeks.

In late September Doug Basham was sent back to OVW using the gimmick "The Superstar of Superstars" where he came out to the ring using the Superman theme. It was hinted, after Basham had a talk backstage with Elijah Burke
, that he may go back to his Doug "The Machine" Basham gimmick.

Doug "The Bash Man" Basham returned to WWE on the December 17, 2005 episode of Velocity in one more appearance before disappearing again.

On February 13th, 2006 Doug Basham returned to action Losing to Val Venis respectively in a WWE RAW dark match Even though Doug Basham is on the SmackDown! roster, Then Doug disappeared yet again.

On March 17th, 2006 Rene Dupree and The Basham Brothers were recently offered new deals from WWE. There is no word yet if they have signed them though.
