Eric Wade Heitmann (born on February 24, 1980 in Brookshire, Texas) is a center in the NFL. He currently plays for the San Francisco 49ers. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 7th round (239th overall) in the 2002 NFL Draft. He went to Stanford University where he was voted All-American following the 2001 season. Heitmann became the first Stanford offensive lineman voted All American since Bob Whitfield in 1992. Heitmann was the first rookie to start a game on the offensive line for the 49ers since 1987, when Harris Barton started at right tackle. Finished the 2002 season starting 11 games including two playoff contests. He switched to center in the absence of the regular center Jeremy Newberry. Prior to the 2005 season has worked to get stronger and more powerful under the tutelage of renown strength coach Johnny Parker. His work paid off early in mini camps and the 49ers signed him to a 4-year extension in June 2005.

Heitmann is a good technician, moves well and can make plays on the second level, and is tough and hard working. He is not huge or overpowering, doesn't get a lot of push, and can get caught off balance at times.
