Athletes - Fred Dunlap


Frederick C. Dunlap (May 21, 1859 - December 1, 1902), nicknamed "Sure Shot", was a second baseman in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Blues (1880-1883), St. Louis Maroons (1884-1886), Detroit Wolverines (1886-1887), Pittsburgh Pirates (1888-1890), New York Giants (1890), and the Washington Statesmen (1891). He also served as the manager of Pittsburgh for one season.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dunlap also managed the Maroons to the league championship during the sole season of the Union Association in 1884. He hit for the cycle on May 24, 1886.

Dunlap died at age 43 in Philadelphia.
