| Fred Kendall (born 1949 in Torrance, California) was a catcher for parts of 12 seasons in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, and Boston Red Sox. In 1973 he was voted Most Valuable Padre after setting career high marks in batting average (.282) and in home runs (10). Kendall managed the South Bend Silver Hawks, a Chicago White Sox affiliate in the Midwest League, in 1995 and is currently the Colorado Rockies catching coordinator. His son, Jason Kendall is a catcher in the Major Leagues with the Oakland A's.
