Garth Snow is a goaltender who on July 29, 2005 signed a new contract with the New York Islanders. He was born July 10, 1969 in Wrentham, Massachusetts. At 6-3, he is one of the NHL's tallest goalies. He has appeared in 348 games (and counting) as a member of the Quebec Nordiques, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and New York Islanders. He has won 131 of those games, lost 134 and tied 43. He has 16 shut outs. His best season was arguably 2002/2003 when his goals against average (gaa) was 2.31. In 1996/97 Snow led the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals - finishing the playoffs with an 8-4 win/loss record. He was also a member of Team USA at the Lillehammer Olympics in 1994, where he won 1 game, lost 2 and tied 2.

He attended the University of Maine, where he joined Paul Kariya and twins Peter and Chris Ferraro in their 42-1-2 NCAA Championship year (92-93).

According to former teammate Mike Peca, Garth Snow is the best trash-talker in the league. "He's got such a wit and sense of humor like no other. says things that will cut you without being rude or obnoxious." (The Hockey News, August 30, 2002).

Snow is known to be a leader both off and on the ice. He recently signed a 3 year contract with the New York Islanders where it is likely that he will once again be playing backup to fellow American Rick DiPietro.
