Athletes - Gene Snitsky

Eugene A. Snisky, better known as Gene Snitsky or simply Snitsky (born January 14, 1970 in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania) is a professional wrestler currently performing for World Wrestling Entertainment on the RAW brand.

Wrestling career

Snitsky is a graduate of the Wild Samoan Training Center and wrestled in Ohio Valley Wrestling as Mean Gene Mondo. He previously wrestled with world eXtreme wrestling under the name "Mean" Gene Snisky (a name inspired by "Mean" Gene Okerlund) and won the tag-team championship along with his partner Robb Harper. When he entered singles competition, he won the wXw Heavyweight Championship.

World Wrestling Entertainment

He made his WWE debut on the September 13, 2004 edition of RAW as what appeared to be a random jobber against Kane
in a no DQ match. During this match, Snitsky hit Kane on the back with a steel chair, causing Kane to fall on his pregnant wife Lita
, which in turn resulted in the death of their baby. During this angle he repeatedly stated "It wasn't my fault", which became his catch phrase.

He was then situated in a major feud with Kane, which led to a match at Taboo Tuesday. In this match, Snitsky used a steel chair and crushed Kane's larynx. WWE used this angle as kayfabe for Kane's absence, when in reality Kane was going to film a movie. This feud resumed at the New Year's Revolution pay-per-view, when Kane came back from filming his WWE-produced movie, with Snitsky losing to Kane.

At Survivor Series 2004, Snitsky had an encounter with another psychotic from SmackDown!, Heidenreich
, in which they both exchanged their views on each other – "I like .. your .. poems."; "I .. like what you do.. to babies." — while breathing hard, both their trademark ways of talking. At 2005's Royal Rumble, Snitsky secretly partnered with Heidenreich, planning to interfere in Heidenreich's Casket Match with Undertaker
. It was later revealed that Kane was hidden in the casket, and pounced on both Snitsky and Heidenreich, where they continued their fight in the crowds, before letting the Casket Match continue. This started a chain reaction of feuds, where WrestleMania 21 would see Undertaker partner with Kane to take on Snitsky and Heidenreich. The idea was later nixed by Undertaker — who instead would face Randy Orton
.

By this time Snitsky stopped using his first name professionally as it was thought "Gene Snitsky" didn't sound mean enough. He was absent from WWE television between March and May 2005 due to a blood clot in his stomach. He returned to house show action on May 28, and reappeared on RAW on May 30, where he began in earnest his televised feud with house show opponent Chris Benoit. The feud concerned Benoit's appearance in the June 12 ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view (in 1995 Benoit was a wrestler for ECW); Snitsky was a "hired gun" for Eric Bischoff's RAW volunteers, brought in to try to invade the pay-per-view and ruin the ECW reunion. He and the other invaders were ultimately unsuccessful.

Since then Snitsky has been used by Edge and Lita to attack Kane, and by Eric Bischoff as punishment to anybody that he doesn't like. On July 11th, 2005 Edge informed Snitsky that he knew about his female foot fetish and offered Snitsky to "have a go with Lita's feet" if he'd help him in a match against Kane.

On August 22nd, 2005 his foot fetish storyline continued as Snitsky encountered backstage interviewer Maria Kanellis and tried to lick her foot. At this point, Big Show
got involved placing his own foot in Snitsky's view and slapped Snitsky for being a "pervert." Big Show went on to defeat Snitsky by count-out in their upcoming single match. Snitsky would continue with this short feud with Big Show for a while before disappearing off the main show.

Snitsky would wrestle mainly on HEAT, after a few weeks he would try ro form a tag team with a reluctant Tyson Tomko
. On a later HEAT Snitsky appeared backstage with Tomko, who had apparently accepted the team request. In their first team match together the pair squashed the tag team of Viscera
and Val Venis.

The pair would have some success as a tag team, earning the #1 contenders spot to RAW's Tag Titles at one point. However, the pair were unable to dethrone then champions Kane and The Big Show, two men Snitsky has fueded with.
