Glenn Martinez (born November 30, 1981 in Nuremburg, Germany) is an American football player who is currently a free agent. Martinez is of Puerto Rican descent.

Biography

Glenn Martinez attended Saginaw Valley State from 2000 to 2003. He had a notable career at Saginaw Valley State. In 2002, was named honorable mention All-GLIAC as a junior after leading the team with 814 receiving yards. In 2003, Martinez was named first-team All-GLIAC Wide Receiver selection as a senior and led the conference with a 113 receiving yards per game average.

Martinez originally entered the NFL by signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2004. He was released by the Steelers on September 3, 2004 after attending training camp with the team. He was signed with the Detroit Lions as a free agent on January 12, 2005 and allocated to NFL Europe by the Lions and selected by the Rhein Fire in the 19th round of the 2005 NFL Allocated Player Draft.

In 2005, he made the Detroit Lions as a member of their practice squad and was activated for 5 games mainly playing on Special Teams.

As of the end of the 2005 season, Martinez has played in 5 NFL games, with 1 reception as a Wide Receiver, gaining a total of 11 yards, returned 2 kicks, with 42 return yards for an average of 21.0 yards per return. He has 1 tackle on special teams.
