Athletes - Glenn Robinson

Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson (born January 10, 1973 in Gary, Indiana) is an American basketball player in the NBA, currently inactive.

He led Gary (Indiana) Roosevelt High School to a state basketball championship before playing college basketball at Purdue University, and in 1994 he received the Wooden and Naismith Awards. He was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the first overall pick in the 1994 NBA draft, and immediately signed an unprecedented 10-year, $68 million contract with them. During his first pro year, he was twice named the Schick NBA Rookie of the Month and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team after a leading rookie average of 21.9 points per game. He was selected for the 1996 USA Basketball Olympic Basketball Team but was unable to play because of injury.

While playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, Robinson racked up some of the best personal stats in franchise history, but experienced controversial and widely publicized friction with teammates Ray Allen
and Sam Cassell
. He left for the Atlanta Hawks, then moved to the Philadelphia 76ers.

After staying in Philadelphia for one season in 2003-04 and not playing a game for them due largely to an injury in the 04-05 season, he was traded to the New Orleans Hornets on February 24th 2005. In exchange the 76ers acquired forwards Rodney Rogers
and Jamal Mashburn
. Robinson was waived by the team almost immediately and never suited up for them. He was signed by the San Antonio Spurs on April 5th 2005 to establish an additional shooting presence as the team prepared for the playoffs. With the Spurs, Glenn Robinson finally won an NBA championship in 2005.
