Athletes - Greg Mortenson

Greg Mortenson is a mountain climber and former Army medic from Bozeman, Montana. He was stationed in Germany from 1975 - 1997, and received the Army Commendation medal. He graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, S.D. in 1983.

While attempting to climb K2 in 1993, Mortenson became weak and was forced to descend. Two local porters took him to their homes in Korphe and brought him back to health.
