Athletes - Harry Woodson

Harry Woodson (1852 to October 15, 1887) was a professional boxer whose nickname was The Black Diamond. He was active during the 19th century in the Cincinatti area, and as was the reality at the time, Woodson mostly fought other black boxers. He was good enough that he was in the occasional match with white men as well.

Having earned enough money Woodson would begin to operate his own gymnasium, but his life would end tragically. He was shot to death in an argument. The source of the conflict was a rivalry over a woman.
