Athletes - J. R. House

James Rodger "J. R." House (born November 11, 1979 in Charleston, West Virginia) played baseball in 2003 and 2004 as a catcher with the Pittsburgh Pirates. House was drafted in the 5th round and has now enrolled at West Virginia University as a quarterback.

He was a top high school prospect in both football and baseball in high school, playing football in the fall at Nitro High School near Charleston and baseball in the spring at Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. This was possible because his father, who owned automobile dealerships in both areas, also maintained homes in both.

House set numerous state and national high school records as a quarterback, primarily at Nitro (he played five games at Seabreeze in his sophomore year). Most notably, he broke a national record for career total offense that had lasted for over 40 years.
