Jay Gibbons (born March 2, 1977 in Rochester, Michigan) is a right fielder for the Baltimore Orioles. He also played first base and spent all of his four years in the majors with the Orioles organization.

In 2003, Gibbons (nicknamed "Gibby") had his best season statistically. Playing in a career-high 160 games, Gibbons established career-bests in batting average, home runs, and RBI. His final stats were: .277 average, 23 home runs, and 100 RBIs (a team high). He was voted Team MVP for the year of 2003.

In 2004, Gibbons suffered multiple injuries and only played in 97 games. Because of this, his numbers plummeted: his batting average was a mere .246, and he hit only 10 homers. After the 2004 season, he had LASIK eye surgery to improve his declining eyesight, which went from 20-10 to 20-35 in only a few months.

Gibbons had a solid 2005 season as he hit .277 with 26 HR's and 79 RBI's in 139 games. However, he only walked 28 times and ended up with a .317 on-base-percentage.

Jay hails from Rochester, Michigan and played college ball at Cal State-L.A.. He is reputed to be the nephew of late former Massachusetts Governor Endicott "Chub" Peabody. He will probably be best remembered outside of Baltimore for being the person at the plate during the movie Wedding Crashers.

Jay is a graduate of Mayfair High School in Lakewood, CA.
