| Jed Ortmeyer (3 September 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American ice hockey player; in 2005 he is a forward for the New York Rangers. Ortmeyer played for the Hartford Wolfpack, the Rangers' farm team in the 2004 season. His number is 41. His brother Jake is also an ice hockey player. He is one of the top penalty-killers for the Rangers, and at even-strength, his defensive style of play helps shut down the opponent's top players. He plays on a line with Dominic Moore and Ryan Hollweg, and together, the three players provide energy with strong their strong checking.
