Jesse Ferguson is a boxer who fought in several noteworthy boxing matches in the 80's and 90's.

He fought Mike Tyson in Tyson's first televised bout. The fight took place in 1986 at RPI's field house. Ferguson was declared a Disqualification loser in the 6th round because, after being floored by a trademark Tyson uppercut in the fifth which broke his nose, he simply refused to break clinches with Tyson, trying to just hold on rather than fight. After a few minutes of having to physically pull Ferguson from Tyson, the referee declared Tyson the winner. Later, the fight was changed from a DQ to a TKO.

Ferguson would later challenge Riddick Bowe for Bowe's Heavyweight championship, in Bowe's second title defense. Ferguson was knocked out in the second round.

A Journeyman Heavyweight, his other notable fights with elite competition includes former champions Larry Holmes and Carl Williams, with Olympian Ray Mercer, with Andrew Golota, Orlin Norris, future champions Olver McCall, Frank Bruno, Bruce Seldon and Hasim Rahman to whom he all lost to. He does hold some notable wins, one over then future champion Buster Douglas, who he defeated by decision, and one win over Ray Mercer by decision, Mercer's second loss, though Mercer would later win the rematch against him, as mentioned.

Ferguson retired in 1999 with a record of 26-18-0 with 16 Knockouts.
