Jim Gantner (born January 5, 1953 in Eden, Wisconsin) was a Major League Baseball player who played his entire career with Milwaukee Brewers. He played his college baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Baseball career

Gantner was a twelfth-round draft pick in 1974 amateur draft. Gantner spend several years in the minor leagues before being called up the major leagues. He was best known for his consistent play. He was the second baseman for the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers team which lost in the 1982 World Series
. He played for much of the 1980's beside baseball greats Robin Yount
, Paul Molitor
, and Cecil Cooper
. Jim spent 17 years in the majors before retiring in 1992.

Jim coached several years after he retired as a player. He currently runs a coffee shop near Milwaukee.

Trivia

  • He pitched one inning in relief in 1979, allowing two hits.
