| Jim Pomeroy (born November 16 1952 in Sunnyside, Washington) was the first American to win a FIM international motocross race for points in 1973. This race was in Spain and was important as at the time Americans were just learning to be competative in the sport and were considered not as talented as the Europeans. This was the competative 250 cc class and was an inspiration to the United States hopes for producing a world champion. Jim rode a Bultaco Pursang to victory.
