| Joey Renard Gathright is a Major League Baseball player for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Gathright made his major league debut with the Devil Rays on June 25, 2004. He attended Bonnabel High School in Kenner, Louisiana, and he played baseball as a junior. Gathright was drafted by the Devil Rays in the 32nd round of the 2001 draft, and he signed in August after playing that summer in a Louisiana Sugar Cane League in Sorrento, Louisiana.Gathright's blazing speed on the basepaths has drawn much praise, but his hitting has the Rays planning to make him a fourth outfielder in the future.
