John Beilein (pronounced bee-line, born February 5, 1953 in Burt, New York) is the head coach of the West Virginia University men's basketball team. He took over as head coach in 2002 and is the 20th head coach of the school basketball team. As of January 2005, Beilein has won 513 career games and is ranked 22 in wins amongst NCAA Division I coaches.

Beilein came to West Virginia University in 2002 after 5 years at the University of Richmond where he compiled a 100-53 record. He coached the Richmond team to a winning year each year he was at the school taking the team to the NCAA tournament once and the National Invitation Tournament twice. Prior to coaching at Richmond, Beilein served as head coach at Canisius College from 1992 to 1997. Here he also coached his team to two National Invitation Tournaments and one NCAA tournament.

Before coaching at Richmond and Canisius, Beilein had also served as head coach at Erie Community College from 1978 to 1982, Nazareth College for the 1982-1983 school year, and Le Moyne College from 1983 to 1992. Throughout his entire career, Beilein has always served as a head coach and never an assistant.

Prior to his career as a collegiate coach, Beilein began his coaching career as the coach for the Newfane Central High School team in Newfane, New York. He is a 1975 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University where he obtained a bachelors degree in history and played for the school's basketball team. He earned a masters degree in education from Niagara University in 1981.

Currently, John Beilein's West Virginia University Mountaineers have a 20-8 record for the 2005-2006 Season. His son Patrick plays on the team.
