John "Jack" Francis Coffey was a baseball player on the 1918 Red Sox world champion team. He started the season by playing 22 games with the Detroit Tigers before being sold to the Boston Red Sox in mid-August. He was listed as a possible replacement for the injured Dave Shean, but never got a chance to play in the World Series. His only other time in the major league was when he played for the 1909 Boston Braves. After finishing up his playing career, he went on to coach the Fordham University baseball team from 1922 to 1955. The university's baseball field is named in his honor.StatisticsCareer Statistics:Hitting Fielding [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for John Coffey ] Some related entries: Wilma Rudolph | René Monteagudo | Jonathan Bender | Jeremiah Massey | Nicole Arendt | Craig Biggio | Wes Covington | Luis Ayala | Chick Hafey | Ken Forsch | Sunder Nix This page is based on the copyrighted Wikipedia article John Coffey; it is used under the GNU Free Documentation License.
