John Zandig is a deathmatch wrestler but he also started and now owns the promotion Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) where he is a former six time heavyweight champion. He has been involved in many ultraviolent matches since the company's inception including such objects as thumbtacks, fluorescent light-tubes, barbed wire and even spots involving being hit with a weed wacker. John Zandig has been a part of many company wars. One was against Xtreme Pro Wrestling. The background was that former XPW wrestler, The Messiah, left XPW over unknown circumstances. Rumors say that The Messiah slept with XPW owner Rob Black's wife, aka porn star Lizzy Borden. The Messiah signed with CZW, and instantly became a fan favorite, despite CZW fans hatred of XPW. John Zandig then promised The Messiah at a CZW event that he will face an opponent from the past (Kaos). Rob Black pulled Kaos away from the CZW event and claimed that any XPW wrestler who appeared in CZW will be fired. This lead to a short CZW and XPW war.
