John Carl Thomson (born October 1, 1973 in Vicksburg, Mississippi) is a Major League Baseball player. Thomson, a right-handed pitcher, was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Braves in December 2003.

Thomson was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 7th round of the June 1993 free agent draft. After signing with the Braves following the '03 season, Thomson had the best season of his career in 2004. He recorded a career high in wins, going 14-8, while posting a solid 3.84 ERA. He appeared to be carrying his success from '04 into 2005, but after a fast start, he missed a large portion of the season due to an injury on the middle finger of his pitching hand. He returned to the rotation in mid-August, but was not as reliable as he had been before the injury. Despite that, the Braves exercised a team-option for 2006 that will allow Thomson to be in the rotation for at least another year.
