Joshua McCown (born July 4, 1979 in Jacksonville, Texas) is an American football quarterback currently playing for the Detroit Lions of the NFL. He was selected with the 16th pick of the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Sam Houston State University. He is the older brother of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Luke McCown
.

McCown signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Lions on March 16, 2006. The Lions are rumored to be letting McCown and Jon Kitna
compete for the 2006-2007 season starting job.

Early career

McCown attended Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Texas. As a senior, he was the East Texas Player of the Year, District 17-4A offensive player of the Year, and an all-state honorable mention. He completed 150 out of 231(64.93 completion percentage) for 30 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also played basketball, where he was an All-District second team pick as a senior.
