He was born in Springfield, IL on 17 of July 1980. 25-year-old concluded his 4th season behind plate, after being converted from pitcher to catcher in 2002...has made tremendous strides as backstop, earning big league callups in both 2004 and 2005...in 4 years behind dish, has registered .266 avg. with 28 HRs and 155 RBI over 391 minor league contests...has climbed organizational ladder rather quickly since switching positions, spending just one season each at single-A Hagerstown, single-A San Jose, double-A Norwich and triple-A Fresno...was drafted twice, including once by Giants in 2000, before signing after being 5th round pick as pitcher in 2001 draft...was also selected by St. Louis in 1998 (41st round).
