Ken Hamlin (born January 20, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee) is a professional football player for the Seattle Seahawks, where he plays safety. He was drafted in 2003 with the tenth pick in the second round.

Controversy has surrounded Hamlin in October of 2005 for an alleged altercation taking place in a nightclub on October 17, 2005.

A fight broke out between Hamlin and two unidentified men at a nightclub in Seattle. Ken sustained serious injuries to his head by, among others, assault with a street sign. Hamlin was sent to the hospital in critical condition with a fractured skull, a small blood clot and bruising of the brain tissue.

On October 20th, 2005, Hamlin was released from ICU and his condition was noted as stable.

According to a police report, Hamlin and his girlfriend were leaving the club about 2 a.m. Monday, October 17th; Several hours after the Seahawks defeated Houston. His girlfriend told officers that Hamlin placed a hand on another man's shoulder and said, "Excuse me." The man told Hamlin to stop pushing, and the two men began shoving each other.

According to the report, Hamlin punched the man in the face. Another man knocked Hamlin down. Other witnesses told police one of the men hit Hamlin twice with a street sign.

Club owner Larry Culp said his security guards kept Hamlin separated from the two suspects outside for about 15 minutes. He said guards tried to restrain Hamlin several times and the unidentified civilian started to back down, but "as the head of my security team turned his head, went after him. ... He had plenty of chances to walk away from this incident ... went out of his way" to provoke a fight.

Police are, additionally, investigating the murder of Terrell Milam, who was allegedly shot to death a few hours after leaving the same nightclub Hamlin was at. Milam's sister, Tramaine Isabel, has told the Associated Press that Terrell was one of the men that was involved with Hamlin at the club, but no arrests have been made. Police have stated that they have found no connection to date that would implicate Hamlin in the shooting, but that it is an ongoing investigation.
