Koy Dennis Detmer is an American football player who plays quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, an NFL Franchise. He plays back-up to all-pro quarterback Donovan McNabb. His brother, Ty Detmer, also played quarterback for the Eagles.

Pro Career

Executed a perfect behind-the-back, no-look lateral to kicker David Akers who galloped 15 yards for a 1st down on a fake field goal against the Arizona Cardinals.

In his only playing time of the 1999 season led the Eagles to a 24-9 victory vs. the New England Patriots as he fired 3 TD passes, including a 50 yard pass to Torrance Small

Began the 1998 season as the third-string quarterback behind Bobby Hoying and Rodney Peete. When both suffered injuries, Detmer landed his first career starting role against the Green Bay Packers. He then went on to start the final four games of the season, including the season finale against the Dallas Cowboys when he posted career highs in 43 attempts and 24 completions and 231 yards.

After McNabb suffered an injury in the 2002 season, Detmer became the starting quarterback for the Eagles and played in a game against the San Francisco 49ers. During this game, in which he led the Eagles to a winning score, he suffered an injury and had the position of quarterback shifted to third-string A.J. Feeley.

In 2005, due to McNabb suffering a season-ending injury and the mediocre performance of Mike McMahon, Detmer played for half a game against the Seattle Seahawks in a 42-0 loss.

Personal Bio

He and his wife, Katie - a former University of Colorado skier - have a son, Koy, Jr.
