| Larry Lucchino is the current President and C.E.O. of the Boston Red Sox, and a member of John Henry's ownership group. He is a 1967 graduate of Princeton University and a 1971 graduate of Yale Law School. He has also worked for both the Baltimore Orioles and the San Diego Padres and under his watch both teams built new stadiums (Camden Yards and Petco Park respectively). A mentor of former and current Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein, Lucchino drew criticism in the wake of Epstein's departure from the team. Epstein has since returned to his position as general manager. Lucchino coined the phrase the "Evil Empire" when referring to the New York Yankees after they succeeded in acquiring cuban free agent pitcher Jose Contreras, a player coveted by both teams.
