Athletes - Luke Petitgout

Luke Petitgout
was the first round pick for the New York Giants in 1999, the 19th pick overall, out of Notre Dame. Thrust into a starting role immediatly upon being drafted, Luke played left guard and right tackle before settling as the Giant's left tackle in 2002. Charged with protecting Eli Manning
's blindside, he has been a leader of the offensive line, allowing the young quarterback to excel, as well as helping to elevate Tiki Barber
to the game's upper echelon of elite running backs. The biggest criticism on Petitgout is the number of penalties he gets flagged for; In 2005, in an overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks, he alone was guilty of seven false start penalities, as the Giant's were guilty of twelve in the important NFC regular season game, helping him earn the infamous moniker "Penalty-gout."
