Michael Lamont James (born June 23 1975 in Amityville, New York) is a professional basketball player who plays for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. He is 6'2" and 190 lbs and is nicknamed the Amityville Horror.

Following a college career at Duquesne University, he was not drafted, and began his professional career when he signed as a free agent with the Miami Heat. He has since played for the Boston Celtics, the Detroit Pistons, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Houston Rockets, averaging 10.0 points per game. As the starting point guard for the Raptors after 68 games, he is averaging 19.1 points per game, 5.6 assists per game, 3.2 rebounds per game. He is shooting 47.1% from the field and an impressive 43.2% from 3-point range.

James was a member of the Pistons' 2004 NBA Championship team as a reserve. He and fellow reserve guard Lindsey Hunter formed a formidable defensive guard combination nicknamed the "Pit Bulls" by Rasheed Wallace, because of their aggressive nature on defense.

On October 4 2005, James was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Toronto Raptors for Rafer Alston. Since coming to Toronto, he has made a beneficial impact on the team. He is the second leading scorer on the team, behind Chris Bosh.

While playing for Toronto in the 2005-06 season, he has reached a career high of 38 points in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
