Athletes - Mike McGill

Mike McGill is best known as the inventor of the McTwist, which originated as a skateboard arial on a vert ramp in 1984. He was also a member of the classic Bones Brigade, a team of riders who dominated much of professional skateboarding (both in contests and in videos), when skateboarding emerged as a popular trend for much of the 1980's. McGill was renowned for having one of the best styles in the sport and performing many of the most difficult tricks on ramps. McGill was more of a vert purist however, so when skateboarding lost popularity in the early 1990's and riding vert became passe, McGill turned to the business side of skating. His company "Chapter Three" didn't succeed, but he was one of the first pros to open his own skatepark, which was very successful. His pro model boards and shoes can be purchased at a local Walmart at a cheap price.
