Nick Evangelista is a classical fencing master

Career

Evangelista teaches the classical French school of fencing in Springfield, Missouri. He was trained by the former Olympian (1928, 1932) and fencing master to the stars, Ralph Faulkner. One of the more prolific and outspoken proponents of classical fencing, Maître Evangelista has authored several books popular with students of sport as well as classical fencing. Titles include The Art and Science of Fencing ISBN 1570280754, The Inner Game of Fencing ISBN 1570282307, The Encyclopedia of the Sword ISBN 0313278962, and The Woman Fencer ISBN 1930546483 co-authored with his wife, Anita Evangelista. His views are popular in the classical fencing movement, but he is largely disregarded in mainstream fencing as misguided, and lacking in credibility since neither he nor his students have distinguished themselves in competition - his teacher was an Olympian, but he is not. The controversy is sharpened by frequently inflammatory rhetoric in his books and newsletter.
