| Norm Stewart was an American college basketball coach. He coached at the University of Northern Iowa (then known as State College of Iowa) from 1961 to 1967 and then with University of Missouri from 1967 until 1999. Under Stewart, the Missouri Tigers (sometimes referred to as "Mizzou") won nine Big Eight Conference regular-season championships, the first of them came in 1976, and six Big Eight Conference post-season tournaments. Also, Missouri went to the NCAA Tournament 16 times, including two elite eights, the NIT post-season tournament five times, and one CCA post-season tournament during his 32-year tenure. He compiled a record of 634-333, the 11th best mark in NCAA history. His efforts help founded the Coaches for Fighting Cancer program for NCAA coaches.
